First Lady Michelle Obama is making a name for herself by making sporadic cameos at female empowerment events. Recently, she made an appearance at a leadership summit hosted by UN Foundation for the campaign recognized as Girl Up.

The campaign promotes the idea of “leading global community of passionate advocates changing policies and raising funds to support United Nations programs that help the hardest to reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl.”

One of her top priorities is incorporating more opportunities for females to access educational programs. “When we give girls around the world that kind of opportunity,” says Obama. “It doesn’t just change their lives; it changes their families, their communities, and their countries.”

The traditional slogan for implementing change in the world revolves around the idea that one person can make a difference. When an individual is provided with the right resources, is given proper access ways, and seizes every opportunity, then the path to success will unfold itself. The First Lady views education as the key to unlock this journey for many women and is drawing her focus to those who live in impoverished areas and face daily obstacles when it comes to obtaining an education or increasing status in social hierarchy.

The best motivation for change is the drive to assist an issue which one feels passionate about. This desire to contribute to something that one is already connected to will influence individuals to seek alternatives when encountering hindrances.

Having Michelle Obama as the spokesperson for this initiative proves to young girls and adult women globally that anything is possible. She is taking advantage of her social status to access the funds and resources to make these dreams come true. Judging by the success of all her appearances, her philanthropy will carry her to many more events thus allowing her to continue in her efforts to change the world.
