We have all heard about the amazing research being done that says that green tea is one of the oldest and most beneficial beauty tools, but how can we use it to its full potential? We can drink it to reduce allergies, lower cholesterol, and help in the fight against unwanted belly fat, but there are many other ways we can use this magical herb in order to obtain the maximum amount of benefits.

 

1. Adds shine to dull strands of hair. You can make your own hair rinse with green tea, and it can give extra shine to dull or lackluster hair — and it could not be easier. All you have to do is simply boil some water (about two to three cups), and then steep your preferred tea bags (try to use organic, as this is going on your hair). Let it cool for a few hours or overnight. Then, during your next shower, pour it onto freshly washed hair, and leave on for about 10 minutes. Be sure to do this before shampooing and conditioning your hair, as the shampoo and conditioner will seal in the shine.

 

2. Tea bags can reduce puffy bags under your eyes: This is perhaps one of the cheapest treatments that you can do at home to reduce your under-eye baggage. Most products use caffeine in their creams to help reduce puffiness by shrinking blood vessels, so it makes complete sense that a tea bag would give you the same effect more naturally. Just make your morning tea (make sure it is caffeinated!) and then lightly squeeze excess water into your tea and set the bags out to cool. When they are cool, simply place over your eyes for about 15 minutes.

 

3. Tones and moisturizes skin: For this beauty benefit, you will need to buy a spray bottle. Simply make your favorite cup of green tea, let it cool, and then pour it into a spray bottle. Spray it onto your face twice a day (make sure your face it completely clear of impurities and washed clean before you spritz it on!).

 

4. Helps fight breakouts: The most satisfying way to fight the occasional breakout is by making your own face scrub. Adding some matcha powder (which is ground up green tea leaves) to any existing recipe you may have can give you some crazy benefits. In case you do not already have your own recipe, try this one.
All you will need to make your own face scrub is:

1 1/2 cup white sugar
2 tsp. matcha powder
2 green tea bags
1 cup coconut oil

Open green tea bags, empty green tea leaves, and set aside. In a bowl, place white sugar, green tea powder, and loose leaf tea leaves; mix together all the ingredients until the green tea powder is incorporated into the sugar. Then, slowly add coconut oil, and stir until all the mixture is covered in oil. Place in air tight container, and store for up to a week.
