Hosted by Nigel Barker, “The Face” is a supermodel-themed reality television show that airs every Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. on Oxygen.  Currently in its second season, “The Face” features returning Supermodel Coach, Naomi Campbell — who is also the show’s executive producer — and two new supermodel coaches Anne V and Lydia Hearst who replaced Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha from season one.

Similar to the first season of the show, this second season, each supermodel coach mentors a team of four aspiring models, guiding them through real life challenges, including photo shoots and commercials. Each week, when one team wins, the supermodel mentors for the teams that loose the challenge, are forced to nominate one team member for elimination. The decision about who to send home is left up to the winning coach.

Episode One: During the season two premiere, contestants were asked to strip down to their underwear and hit the catwalk for a pop-up fashion show at Bryant Park in New York City. Some of the contestants had a beautiful strong gait on the runway while others were less desirable.

The first challenge required contestants to create a Juicy Couture Ad with the theme “Girls Night Out.” Some of the contestants had difficulty nailing this challenge.  However, at the end of the challenge, the “Selfie Pose” theme from Campbell’s team was selected as the winner of the competition.

Episode Two: In the second episode, contestants received a makeover and a request to pose nude for their second challenge. During the makeover, Kira, Naomi’s team member who is from Russia, shared that Frédéric Fekkai, the show’s sponsor, would prefer a Caucasian girl with no extensions. Campbell took offense to Kira’s comment and advised her that such statements would not be tolerated. Though some of the girls struggled with posing nude, Campbell’s team still came out on top.

Episode three: The third episode of the season started with Naomi discussing her disappointment with Anne V and Lydia Hearst, for sending two African American contestants in for elimination. Considering the comment Kira made earlier about a model of color not standing a chance in the competition,  Campbell suggested that both coaches conspired to send two models of color to elimination.

For this episode’s challenge, contestants were asked to strut the catwalk of a dinner table with silverware, plates, and glasses. Campbell’s team performed poorly on this challenge, while Anne V’s team were selected as the winners. Campbell and Hearst together sent two of their contestants to elimination, and eventually a member of Campbell’s team — Kira — was sent home.
