The classic button up shirt is a timeless look. Recreated time and time again by various top designers, button ups elude a clean and classic feel that is unmatched by any other article of clothing.

According to A Well Styled Life, the classic button up is “a wardrobe staple that never goes out of style. Every woman should own at least one.” Whether you prefer men’s button ups or more tailored women’s button ups, both look great on almost everyone.

Wearing a button up shirt may seem like a no-brainer, but there are a few very clear hd game of thrones season 7 live stream do’s and don’ts when it comes to rocking this look. We have collected a few of our favorites to share with you below:

Do: Pair button ups with skinny jeans. The streamlined pants will compliment the crisp creases of your shirt and add a feminine twist to an otherwise boxy shape.

Don’t: Pair with boyfriend jeans. Even though both articles of clothing are menswear inspired, the combo will make you look disheveled and otherwise frumpy.

Do: Match your shirt with bold statement jewelry.  The trick to wearing men’s clothing is to make sure it is paired with feminine articles. Bold jewelry, like the bangles Carolina Herrera is wearing with her white button up, are a perfect choice.

Don’t: Over do the jewelry. Heavy, bold bangles are great, but don’t get carried away with too much all at once. Try to pick a favorite item, like bracelets or earrings, and make that your statement piece. Avoid having huge bracelets, a flashy necklace, and oversized earrings all at once though, as it will distract from the clean aesthetic of the button up shirt.

Do: Roll up your sleeves. Although this tip depends on however you are most comfortable, we love the look of rolled up sleeves. If you are wearing a men’s shirt, then the sleeves will likely be too long, anyway. Rolling them up to below your elbows will let just enough skin show while still remaining modest and chic.

Don’t: be afraid to wear button ups outside of the office. An oversized button up shirt works perfectly as a swim suit cover up, or as a flirty dress paired with a skinny belt.

Do: Remember to wear a nude colored bra under a white button up. Corporette.com recommends wearing “a bra that matches your skin tone, and a white camisole, no matter how convinced you are that no one can see through it.”
