There is an unwritten rule in fashion that “three marks a trend.”  The looks below were spotted more than three times on many runways during the just concluded Fall/Winter New York Fashion Week (NYFW).

1. Fur– it is not surprising that fur took the lead among the coveted trends on the runway.  It is after all, a fall/winter staple. Designers Carolina Herrera, BCBG Max Azria and Prabal Gurung showcased their best fur pieces.  BCBG Max Azria, especially accessorized with a lot of fur in varying forms: coats, muffs, ponchos, and collars. Those at PETA were probably not smiling when they saw all that fur on the runway.

2. Plaid – Ladies and gentlemen, plaid is here to stay. This is Tommy Hilfiger’s signature style and he never disappoints. This NYFW also saw designers like Sass & Bide and Marc by Marc Jacobs showing us their best interpretation of the plaid trend.

3. Knits – These never go out of style because they are especially designed to make you feel cozy and stylish.

If you ever wondered how to look stylish in them, look no further because some of our favorite designers including Azede Jean-Pierre, Rag & Bone and Michael Kors showed us different ways to style a knitted apparel.

4. Socks – We have all been wearing socks way before we could walk. This NYFW showed us different stylish ways we could wear our favorite socks.  Some designers like Tory Burch, Suno and DKNY paired them with sky high heels, mannish brogues and ankle boots.

5. Whites – There were a ton of white pieces spotted all over runway shows including those of Ralph Lauren, Naeem Khan and Christian Siriano. Another commonality of interest, was the covered up looks on the runway.  Those of us who were at the shows could barely see any skin uncovered. It could be attributable to the season the designs are being created for (i.e. the colder months of the year).  Whatever their decision, we are loving these covered up looks of white on the runway.
