Getting your nails done can be therapeutic and really helpful in pulling an outfit together. However, there are times when we either cannot afford them or simply do not have time to get our nails done to finish our look for the day. However, fret not, because there are a few super-simple tricks to get the classic French manicure look without a trip to the salon.  Below are four steps for how you can get fancy and professional looking french manicured nails without spending your hard-earned time and money at a Salon.

Step 1. Before you do anything else, you will need to trim your nails so that they are all as even as possible. This will ensure that your nails are ready for the French manicure tip! Choose if you would like a rounded or squared tip, then grab a nail file and get to work on creating the tips you would like!

Step 2. Once all your nails are the same length with the preferred tip, buff the top of your nails so they will shine and really perfect the look. This is incredibly important to do if you are leaving most of your nail nude, as you do not want dull nails as the base to your French tips.

Step 3. Now you are ready to get to the best part! There are a few different ways to do this, but perhaps the best way to get the perfect manicured look without the need for expert hands is tape.

It is a real lifesaver, and can save you precious time and help create a perfectly smooth line. You can buy this kind of tape at any local drugstore like Walgreens, CVS, or Target. It should be on display for sale by the nail files and nail polish section of the drug store.

Step 4. Once you have your tape, simply apply to the top of your nail, right below the white tip of your nail. Apply some white nail polish on the tip, and let it dry. Add a final coat of clear nail polish to complete the look, and you have just finished your own French manicure!

Additional tips and tricks.  If you want to do something a little different, after buffing your nails, paint your entire nail one color, wait for it to dry, and change up the color you want on the tip! Maybe a black base with a white or matte black tip, or a white base and a glittery tip! There is no limit to what you can do!

You can also try putting the tape at a slight angle to get an even more interesting manicure, or try mixing up your matte nail polish with your glossy nail polish to give an interesting depth to your nail art.
