If you have been staying up to date on the Cannes Film Festival this year, you might have spotted a trend emerging. Some of the most stunning and head-turning gowns at the festival all had one thing in common: a mermaid shape and a long train.

Of all the trends that have come and gone, long trains are not only timeless and beautiful, but they do not require any particular body shape to pull them off.

Eva Longoria (bbc.com)

Eva Longoria was certainly the queen of the long train trend at the Cannes Film Festival. However, of all the trains and gowns that she wore, none were as head-turning and beautiful as her gown by Versace Atelier.

The train had an amazing texture to it; it was so feminine and gorgeous you could not help but stare at it. The soft-looking texture of the train with the rhinestone work on the top looked paired together like macarons and champagne.

Zhang Ziyi (billidollarbaby.com)

Zhang Ziyi looked amazing in a Stéphane Rolland Spring 2014 Couture gown. It featured cut-out pieces around the bust made of a leather-like material, a long flowing train, and some texture on the right side.

The futuristic design on the bust really stood out in a sea of feminine gowns, yet the stark white contrast and the long train works beautifully together to complete a feminine and gorgeous gown.

Lea Seydoux (redalicerao.com)

Lea Seydoux looked absolutely stunning in her emerald Prada gown. The gown featured a tight fit all the way to the knees, and included a train from the waist that wrapped beautifully as she walked.

The embellishments on the train and shoulders gave the gown an extra beauty that sparkled in the camera lights. Absolutely gorgeous!
