Oatmeal Mask with Tomato and Lemon

Purpose: Acne

Oatmeal, whether cooked or uncooked, can be great for relieving symptoms of acne because it has the ability to not only soothe the skin, but also soak up any excess oils and exfoliate to remove dead skin cells which may clog the pores and cause acne. Pairing oatmeal with tomato is especially beneficial for fighting acne because tomatoes also possess a number of acne-fighting properties, including their ability to cleanse the pores and minimize blackheads. To create this mask, combine about 2 tbsp. of oatmeal, one chopped tomato, and the juice of half a lemon (to serve as a natural toner) in a blender. Adjust measurements as necessary to make sure your mixture is a good consistency and can be applied easily to your face, and once you’re ready, leave it on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water or removing with a warm wet cloth.

Coffee Mask with Cocoa, Honey, and Yogurt

Purpose: Puffy Skin

This is the perfect mask to give your face the boost it needs in the morning to look fresh and energized for the day. The caffeine in cocoa and coffee is the key to this mask’s effectiveness in waking up a tired complexion and reducing any puffiness, inflammation, or redness that might be affecting your face in the morning. The honey gives the mask the added benefit of serving as a great skin moisturizer as it acts as a natural agent to soak in and lock in moisture, which leads to an overall brighter complexion. To create this mask, you will want to combine 2 tbsp. of cocoa powder, 2 tbsp. of finely ground coffee beans (or espresso), 3 tbsp. of yogurt (may also use milk or cream), and 1 tbsp. of honey. Mix until you have smooth paste, then apply to your skin and allow to dry before removing with warm water or a warm wet cloth.
