The morning struggle to get out of bed is one we are all too familiar with. In an effort to overcome that struggle, we are constantly looking for new tricks, like using lighting to help us get through the night, or sleep trackers to monitor and improve sleep habits or hacking our alarm clocks with apps that wake us up right away.

Of course, while it’s always valuable to incorporate fresh perspectives and approaches in all areas of life, there is a similar benefit that comes with sticking to what you know works.

Acupressure is a technique that has proven effective in a number of ways, from alleviating nausea to soothing a stuffy nose. As such, it’s only natural that this method may be effective in giving your body the boost it needs in other instances as well, including waking up and staying up.

By learning pressure points that can help boost alertness, acupressure can be a great technique to help you wake up in the morning, and keep you awake and alert throughout the day. Examples of acupressure stimulation points are the top of the head, the area on the back of the hand between the thumb and forefinger, the area directly below each knee, and the top areas on both sides of the back of the neck.

To beat fatigue with acupressure, simply apply pressure to any one of the aforementioned stimulation points by either lightly tapping or gently massaging with your fingers. In no time, you’ll find yourself alert and ready to tackle the day.
