Both Barack and Michelle Obama have signed book deals into the multiple millions with publisher Penguin Random House. Mr. Obama will author a book reflecting upon his last eight years as president. Mrs. Obama’s book will be geared more toward young girls and will reflect upon her own journey as a woman and former First Lady.

Markus Dohle is the CEO of Penguin Random House and he is more than thrilled to have signed the Obamas for the book deal. He stated, “With their words and their leadership, they changed the world, and every day, with the books we publish at Penguin Random House, we strive to do the same.”

The major publishing house is said to have paid the Obamas anywhere from $30 million to $65 million for both books, although the details have not been disclosed. Dohle believes the book launches of these two individuals known worldwide will be, “global publishing events of unprecedented scope and significance.”

Their book deals will greatly surpass those of former presidents Clinton and Bush who had also signed lucrative book deals. The much-anticipated book launches will have to remain top secret until their reveal since absolutely no one is talking. There is no information to be found on book titles, or launch dates as of yet.

It should be noted that while the Obamas are set to gain tremendously from the book deals, they are not waiting with baited breath for royalty checks. Both of them are already accomplished authors. Mr. Obama was a bestselling author in 2009 with the successful book “Dreams From My Father,” and “The Audacity of Hope.” Mrs. Obama herself is already an author with her book, “American Grown,” published in 2012.

The Obamas are prepared to donate a large sum of their proceeds to charities including to the Obama Foundation, which is a non-profit organization established in 2014 seeking to “carry on the great, unfinished project of renewal and global progress.”  Regardless of what people think of the Obama administration, they have made their mark on the world, and will continue to do so in many ways.
