Happy Summer, MUIPR readers! The most glorious, sun-infused season is finally here. It is time to slow things down, enjoy the humidity-drenched breeze and, of course, catch up on the hottest summer blockbusters. It is, after all, important to stay constantly hydrated, not only with coconut water, but with entertainment, too.

Comedies, action flicks, and and star-studded, box-office blunders will captivate audiences once again this season, and it’s important to be the prepared friend your group calls on for any and all entertainment advice. Below are some of the most highly-anticipated films our blogging team at MUIPR can’t wait to see:

1. “22 Jump Street”

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum give sequels a good name in their romp as doubling undercover cops/best friends in the film, out now in theaters. One can only hope that Johnny Depp make a reprise cameo!

2. “Sex Tape”

Star-packed “Sex Tape” features Jason Segel, Cameron Diaz, Rob Corddry, along with Jack Black, in this comedy about an eager married couple on the hunt to retrieve their missing sex tape. Director Kasdan reunites with his “Bad Teacher” pals Diaz and Segel and his “Orange County” buddy Black to spin a tale about one particular modern marriage out July 25.

3. “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”

Wild visuals will surely make up the “Sin City” sequel starring Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jessica Alba, premiering August 22. 10 years makes it quite a long time since the original, which likely means more plot twists and more femme fatales as well.

4. “Jupiter Ascending”

The infamous duo that brought us “The Matrix” will surely dazzle audiences with their latest sci-fi extravaganza, starring Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne. More mystery than anything surrounds this feature which debuts July 18, just in time to shake up summer’s laziest days.

5. “Guardians of the Galaxy

Out August 1, Marvel’s oddball team of superheroes starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel are led by none other than a gun-crazy racoon and talking tree. Go figure. The comi-action hybrid has audiences so inquisitive that the film might actually work.

6. “The Giver”

Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges deliver “The Giver” on August 15, a both highly-anticipated and highly-regarded adaptation of the literary classic. Here’s to hoping a brunette Taylor Swift doesn’t ruin the novel’s implications in her debut on-screen appearance.

7. “Jane Got a Gun”

Outlaw husbands and wily ex-lovers comprise “Jane Got a Gun,” which stars Natalie Portman. The film, which was supposed to premiere August 29, was recently pushed back to a February 2015 release due to a directorial falling out with Michael Fassbender. If that’s any indication to the level of action packed into this film, there’s no telling how successful it will be.
