This week’s bands may not have very similar sounds, but they all have one thing in common: they are releasing an album soon. The bands featured range from folk to rock-and-roll. Regardless of their varying sounds and styles, they are all great picks for a summer playlist.

 

1. First Aid Kit

First Aid Kit is a folk duo from Sweden, comprised of sisters Johanna and Klara Soderberg. The sisters are known for their folksy harmonies that possess a tender, lullaby quality, paired with  strong, deep vocals. Their songs feature classic, folk-style guitar, and seem to come from straight from the western prairies. Their new album, “Stay Gold,” is set to released June 9. “My Silver Lining” is a single from the album and is in-keeping with the established First Aid Kit sound. 2. Lana Del Rey

American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey (college-social.com)

Lana Del Rey is a American singer-songwriter known for her low, floating voice is releasing a new album this summer. The album entitled “Ultraviolence” is set to be released on June 17 and was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. Lana Del Rey songs feature lyrics that tell a story, a voice that carries deep and wide, and an airy, synthesized sound. Her single “West Coast” changes pace throughout and has a slow, eerie manner that is smooth and wavy. It captures the traditional Lana Del Rey sound, with an original flare. “West Coast” is an exciting glimpse into a much anticipated sophomore album. Check out Lana Del Rey on iTunes and Spotify.

 

3. The Black Keys

The Black Keys are an American rock band from Ohio. The band consists of two members, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney and has been together since 2001. The band is known for their vinyl, bluesy-rock sound. The Black Keys just released their new album called “Turn Blue.” The single from the album, “Fever,” is what you would expect coming from this rock band that has proved its durability over the past decade. “Fever” is the classic “lover done me wrong” blues rock that echoes a slight 70’s psychedelic vibe.
