Blizzard Entertainment’s convention BlizzCon 2014 was held on November 7 and 8 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. CEO Mike Morhaime acknowledged the culture of harassment that permeates the gaming community, and started off the convention asking for attendants to carry “good vibes” with them from the event.

Hearthstone, which is set in the World of Warcraft universe, will have a new expansion released, Goblins vs. Gnomes. The expansion will mark Hearthstone’s first since release. An Android version of the game will also be released.


Diablo III will continue to expand, especially on Reaper of the Souls. There will new types of treasure goblins, rifts, and monsters; adventure mode will also undergo some serious changes. Specifically, areas lacking in randomization will be revisited to add a deeper sense of dynamic.


Overwatch, a multiplayer shooter game, was also announced — it will mark Blizzard’s first original game release in 17 years. Not too much is known about Overwatch yet, including pricing. Blizzard did not disclose whether the game would be free, or released for gaming consoles.


Finally, some exiting news for World of Warcraft was announced at BlizzCon 2014. An expansion called Warlords of Draenor will be released in the near future director. Also, a World of Warcraft movie was announced.


The movie’s directior, Duncan Jones likened it to a hybrid between “Avatar” and “Lord of the Rings.” Information about the movie has trickled out, including that Dominic Cooper will be playing the role of King Llane. The 3D movie will be released on March 11, 2016.
