Last December, “Fancy” artist Iggy Azalea announced the dates to her “Great Escape Tour” set to commence in April 2015. Only a few months after the initial release of tour dates, Iggy’s label Def Jam announced that the tour would be postponed until September. On May 29, however, ticket holders were notified via email that the tour had been canceled in its entirety.

The email reads:

“The Iggy Azalea Great Escape Tour scheduled for this fall has been canceled, and refunds are available at point of purchase. There will be a new tour planned around Iggy’s new record to be released in 2016, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

Back in March, Def Jam’s statement claimed that the postponement of the tour was “due to tour production delays” and stressed that “it is extremely important to Iggy that she delivers the show she envisaged to share with her fans and that requires more time in development.”

With the new record on the horizon, is there maybe something more to giving up on “The Great Escape Tour”? Perhaps, Iggy did not develop her tour as thoroughly as she wanted and would rather devote this remaining time to her new record. Maybe, it is better timing to create a tour around a fresh album, rather than one around her debut record which dropped back in 2014.

Iggy made herself publicly available in March upon announcing the postponement of her tour. She went in studio with AMP 97.1 radio to discuss the matter.

“I would be making a lot of sacrifices and cuts and changes and compromises would have to be made to get this thing done in time. So I really considered what I wanted to do: keep and honor the tickets and this date for fans but not the show I’d envisioned or kind I’ve promised them, a lesser version of it with maybe not so many people like jumping out of the ceilings and flying all over the place, or do I want to move it and have the absolute best show, the show that I envisioned? And obviously I’ve chosen to move it.”

Concluding from all her statements about wanting to produce the ideal show for her fans, Iggy is setting up the hype for her next tour. After all this time of planning and developing, the final product is sure to rock the house.

The world is dying to see what you’ve got, Iggy! What is this wonderful vision that you’re perfecting to show us?
