Of the movies that were recently released for rental, Dallas Buyers Club is the one you should watch.  Being a smaller movie with very limited release, there’s a good chance that you missed it while it was in theaters.

Starring Matthew McConaughey, the film tells the story of Ron Woodroof, a straight man who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1985. Woodroof soon realizes that there is a paucity of drugs used to treat the AIDS virus.  As a result, he is forced to work around the system in order to get himself and his fellow patients medicine.

Jean-Marc Vallee, who’s previous films include, C.R.A.Z.Y. and The Young Victorian, directed Dallas Buyers Club film. Of the seven movies he’s developed, Dallas Buyers Club is the one with the biggest hit. With talent like McConaughey and tremendous Oscar buzz for the movie, Dallas Buyers Club has proved to be a massive success.

Earlier this year, McConaughey and Jared Leto both went home with Golden Globe Awards for their respective acting categories in Dallas Buyers Club.  Dallas Buyers Club has also garnered multiple Academy Award nominations in categories such as Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Original Screenplay. Leto will almost definitely go home with the Oscar; McConaughey has a good chance; but, the other few categories in which the movie received nominations are too stacked for a win to be a realistic prediction.

If you, like most people, missed this movie and want to catch up before the Oscars roll around on March 2nd, you should give this Dallas Buyers Club a look.
