Many Canadian bands were featured at this year’s South by South West (SXSW) Music Festival in Austin, Texas. One SXSW-featured Canadian, Leif Vollebekk, has been described as a “stunning performer with a folksy/bluesy voice and somber style, [that] is sure to steal your heart,” singing and playing guitar, piano, harmonica, fiddle, and writing his own songs, Vollebekk is one talented act. Royal Canoe was another Canadian band at SXSW; they have been hailed as the “mad scientists of pop,” with a funky sound that is sure to make you dance.
