Fans of the comedy duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg should be excited to hear that the two filmmakers are currently developing a television program for AMC.

Preacher will be an adaptation of a comic series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. According to IMDb, the show will follow Jesse Custer, a preacher who is accidentally possessed by a creature called Genesis. The thing is half angel, half demon and the most powerful being in the universe. Custer is forced to go on a mission to find God, who has recently abandoned heaven.

The premise sounds ridiculous, but who knows what to expect when it’s coming from these two. Coming off This is The End, they could go any number of directions with it. That film had moments of extreme horror along with broad, hilarious comedy. Rogen and Goldberg  have the skills to go in either direction, and we will probably end up getting a mix of both.

These two writers/directors have been busy as of late. They just made their directorial debut last year, and already have a sophomore film, The Interview, set for release in October.

Preacher promises to be a wildly different material than anything AMC has tackled before, but it would be wise to put your faith in them. With The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men under their belt, we are confident that they can do anything.
