Sitting down to watch a movie with your boyfriend can cause a conflict of interests; you want a romantic comedy, and he believes them all to be “chick flicks.” Many rom-coms will not be interesting to him, but here are some rom-com ideas that both you and he can enjoy.

1. “The Proposal”

“The Proposal,” starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, is the story of a pushy boss (Bullock) and her personal assistant (Reynolds). When Bullock’s character realizes her visa is about to expire, she forces her assistant to marry her. As a result they must go to Reynold’s home town in Alaska to meet his family. “The Proposal” is full of sarcastic quips and ridiculous moments as Bullock and Reynold’s must convince his family they are actually in love. Betty White stars in the film as well, and who doesn’t love Betty White?

2. “Crazy Stupid Love”

After finding out his wife cheated on him, Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) must reclaim his manhood with the help of Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling) a smooth player who knows how to get all the ladies. This film also stars Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, and Kevin Bacon. This movie is about the crazy, stupid, and funny things that can happen in young and old relationships. Besides, the obvious enjoyment for you (getting to see Ryan Gosling shirtless is never a bad thing!), “Crazy Stupid Love” is a hilarious film that will have both you and your boyfriend laughing.

3. “Bridesmaids”

“Bridesmaids,” starring SNL comediennes Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, is a story of long-time friends Annie (Wiig) and Lillian (Rudolph). The film revolves around Lillian’s wedding, with Annie as her Maid of Honor. Tensions arise between Annie and Lillian’s new BFF, Helen (Rose Byrne). The story is full of goofy scenes that will have you splitting at the sides from laughter. “Bridesmaids” may not fit the definition of the typical rom-com, but it is a love story of friendship and relationships and is just crude enough for any boyfriend to enjoy thoroughly.
