For those of us who wish we had more time to sit and enjoy a book, maybe Spritz has your solution. Spritz is developing an app that will allow you to speed read up to 500 words per minute (wpm).

The basis of the idea is in the way our eyes read words. They highlight red letters in order for your eyes to recognize the words faster and therefore read faster. This is called the “Optimal Recognition Point” (ORP) and is slightly left of the center of the word and is the point to which your brain figures out what the word is.

Although it might take a little bit of practice to relax one’s mind and eyes to read 500 wpm, it is good to know that one can very well read up to 250 wpm with no practice (try it here).

What do you think? Does this mean you’ll be reading more books when this app comes out? Comment below or tweet me @kateeb790!
