– Nearly 2,500 flights canceled on Monday –

Nearly 2,500 flights were canceled by airlines around the world on Monday, with the Omigron variant disrupting pilots and staff sick or isolated travel during the holidays.

According to a recent report on the Flightaware site, at 5:00 pm (4:00 pm GMT) on Monday, the disruption mainly affected China, Indonesia and the United States (a quarter of the total).

Flightaware had already booked nearly 8,000 cancellations over the Christmas weekend.

French Prime Minister Jean Costex on Monday announced a series of measures aimed at preventing the meteoric spread of the virus, especially since the deadline for paying the booster dose was reduced to three months after the previous dose.

Meetings are limited to 2,000 people inside the home and 5,000 outside. Eating in cafes and bars will be banned from January 3.

After the holidays, telecommunications are mandatory at least three days a week as much as possible.

New isolation rules for patients and their contacts will be announced by the end of the week, while the current rules raise fears that the country will be paralyzed by the proliferation of strikes.

France recorded more than 100,000 cases on Saturday, a record.

Greece, which recorded 9,284 registered cases on Monday, will close restaurants and bars from midnight on January 3, and the Ministry of Health announced on Monday that it will only allow six-person schedules. 50% of those in companies and public administrations also need to switch to telecommunications.
