An 8-year-old German boy who went missing after surviving more than a week in a sewer near his home in Oldenburg has been found alive, local media reported.
Named Joe, he gave no sign of life after disappearing from a kindergarten on June 17. Eight days later, anxious by the noises coming from the ground, a young man was able to sound the alarm.
Thus, before being taken to the hospital, under a manhole cover, the boy was found alive. “8 year old Joe is alive !!! He was found in a manhole in Oldenburg. He is currently being treated at a hospital, “said German city police on Twitter.
The baby was not completely injured when the clothes were completely undressed, officials said in a statement. However, he was suffering from severe hypothermia and dehydration.
According to investigators, on the day of his disappearance, the boy slipped through a drain where his clothes were found in a rainwater drainage system. After several meters he would have lost orientation, making it impossible to exit.
